Cilantro. The most offensive food known to man.*

Bright, green and stupid
Cilantro: the herb I'd like
to punch in the face

Do you hate cilantro? You're not alone! While I may not join the rank of haters, I'll agree that cilantro is an inferior herb that is too often overused. Like nutmeg, a little cilantro goes a long way. I guess I'm a cilantro-moderate.

Hehehe... I don't hate cilantro enough to have searched for the site, but I am NO FAN of that stuff. I'm happy with nutmeg, but cilantro, get outta my house!

I view it as a food fad. Much like merlot, a wine fad. Merlot has come down off the top of the "most faddish wine" list, but it's still overdone.

Are there other food fads? Anyone?

I hope anise is a food fad. It ruins food like no other ingredient can. Bleeccch.

I must beg to differ on this one. Mexican food wouldn't be Mexican food without the fresh, bright flavor of cilantro. I'll take what you don't want, and save it from being punched in the face. I'll trade you hot peppers in any form. You can save them from me.

I'm with Purple Fried Okra. Just because a bunch of fast-casual chains overuse cilantro doesn't mean it's bad. Blame the purveyors, not the herb.

Yes, over used at times - I cannot tell you how much of that stuff I had to chop up when I worked at Panear for the salads! Oy VAY!

The purveyors of cilantro could CUT BACK and not use so much of this vile substance. And I'm with you, BA, on anise! Just terrible!

Cilantro does not offend me... but I agree that nutmeg is a bitch.

Anise could be punched in the face and I wouldn't mind at all.
